Hola todos! The team had another excellent day of ministry in the city of Huánuco today! The schools continue to open their doors to us, and many of the teachers want us to continue coming! The people here are so receptive to the Gospel! God has opened many doors, and He continues to work in powerful ways through this team!

After an early breakfast (7am!) we headed to our 8am appointment at a local school. Again, even with the little time that we had to share after presenting the drama, the several came to know the Lord as Savior.

We headed to our second appointment of the day, but we ended up having to wait before we were able to get into the second school. In the hour and a half that the team had between presenting at schools, we went to a park instead. Our disappointments are God’s divine appointments. Hundreds of people were already gathered there for a different event, and we were able to share about God with many of them. Many accepted Him as Lord and Savior!

After presenting in the park, the team headed back to the second school. Even though we only had twenty minutes, the team was able to present the Gospel clearly. Not only that, but we encountered an English teacher who wanted us to send him Bible materials in English so that his students could learn English using them.Glory to God for all that He does and the ways that He is using this team!

Please pray for all those the team talked to today, that the Lord would water the seeds that have been planted and continue the work in those lives! Please also lift up the missionaries we’re working with, that God would guide them and give them wisdom as they attempt to establish a new church in this city. As always, continue to lift up the team’s unity in Christ, their health, and their safety. God is moving here in this place!

From Huánuco, your CCs,

Karissa & Jacey

Hello friends and family!

Karissa and I (Jacey) are back to writing updates again. Today was another awesome day doing Jesus’ ministry in the city of Huánuco! Today, in the morning, we had the opportunity to present the drama at two different schools. The first school had only high school aged kids. Because of time constraints, we were not able to go out and speak to the students personally, but the Gospel was still clearly and effectively shared! Please be in prayer for the seeds of the Word that were planted there, that God would bring them to fruition!

At the second school, we were again only able to present to high school aged and older kids. However, the school is also combined with an elementary school, and the director wanted us to come back tomorrow morning and share with all of the younger kids and their teachers. Glory to God!

After a time of resting and rejuvenating with lunch and the Word, we headed back out into the city. We stopped at one tiny park where there weren’t very many people and the students barely had room to perform the drama. However, the Lord worked anyway! The students walked in obedience, and by the time we had finished a small crowd had gathered. Many came to know Him at that place as well!

For the fourth drama of the day, we returned to a familiar place, on a plaza in downtown Huánuco. The students presented the Gospel there, and again many came to know Him. The students never tire of being able to share the hope we have in the Lord and to see the changing power that the Gospel works in peoples’ lives.

After presenting, we were approached by yet another person who eagerly desired that we present the drama at her school. The woman was an English teacher, and we were able to set a tentative appointment at her school for next Monday at 8am. Please be in prayer for that opportunity!

Please continue to lift us up as we finish out our time here in Huánuco. Pray for perseverance and for continued joy in the Lord. Please continue to lift up the health and safety off our team, and that the Lord would continue to move mightily through our obedience.

For His Glory Alone,

Your CCs,

Karissa and Jacey

Hello beautiful people!

Today we had yet another amazing day of ministry!

At our first site, one of our students specifically felt called to a certain woman. Unfortunately, when it came time to go out in teams, the woman was nowhere to be found. As the student was sharing with another group, she saw the same woman whom she felt called to earlier. She finished sharing with the group (where a few people came to know the Lord!) and hurried over to the woman and praise Jesus – we have a new sister in Christ!!! The student was very excited because although she was disappointed, God used that to bring those in the group to Him as well as the specific woman.

Our second and third sites didn’t go as we had planned. We were scheduled to perform in two different schools, but God had other plans! Since those sites didn’t work out, we were able to perform in a park where many people had gathered. One of our students had the opportunity to pray for a man who was getting ready to have surgery. This hit home for the student because of past experiences in his life, so he was able to pray more specifically for him. Many many people came to know the Lord as his name was proclaimed! The ministry that occurred at this park would not have happened if the other two sites went as planned.

After lunch, we preformed in a park where a student met a lady who was confined to a wheel chair. He learned that she had broken her hip a few years ago and had never completely healed from the incident. After she accepted Christ, the group continued to talk to her through one of our translators. When they had finished, the entire group felt an overwhelming sense of compassion for the woman. They prayed over her and have continued to keep her in their prayers ever since.

At our final site we were able to perform on a stage. Before we knew it, we were surrounded by seeking souls! At the end of the drama, one group had the chance to minister to over 60 children and their families. Many of them accepted Christ and have now passed from death to life! We are humbled every day by the graciousness of the Lord and the way He is moving here in Huanuco. If we can only take away one lesson from this day, it would be that our disappointments are God’s divine appointments!

Please intercede on our behalf’s for continued health, unity, and endurance as we are on the home stretch! We are so thankful for your love and support.

Your TD’s,

HannahKate and Kennan

Feliz Lunes, Amigos y Familia!

Today after breakfast, the team headed out to perform the drama at a park by one of the markets in Huánuco. After performing, one of our students felt called to talk to a young girl. The student explained the way to Salvation, after which the girl enthusiastically responded that yes, she would like to receive Jesus as her Savior! However, somewhere along the way there was a mistranslation! Our student mistakenly thought that the girl had rejected Christ. Our student decided that she needed the help of translator. With the translator’s aid, we gained a new sister in Christ and our team gained a fresh appreciation for the vital work that the translators do! Praise the Lord for their help and for our student’s persistence!

After lunch, the team did some studying in the Word in 1 Peter 3:8-22 and had some rest time. Afterwards, the team returned refreshed and ready to continue the work of Jesus’ Ministry in this city!

At the first drama site of the afternoon, we performed on a small island in the middle of a pond! The location was very beautiful, and the Lord drew many! After presenting, one of our youngest students boldly went up to a group of about twenty men and women and proclaimed the Message of Christ to them! Many received Him as their Savior! Thank God for the courage and boldness He has given each of our team members!

Please continue to lift this team up in prayer! We are now at the half-way point! Please pray that we would continue with gladness and renewed joy everyday for the great things that God has done and will do in this city! Please continue to lift up our health and safety! Thank you!

Your C.C’s

P.S.

If your child did not get a hold of you this evening, they will be trying to call again tomorrow night. Please be expecting a call from an unknown number. Thank you! (:

What an awesome experience the team had this morning! We were reminded of the scene foretold of in Revelation 7, where a great multitude of every tribe, tongue, and nation are gathered before the Lord in the heavenly worship service! It was awesome to be a part of what is merely a shadow of what is to come! We were also reminded of the unity that the Blood of the Lamb brings across all man-made barriers!

After a some songs, a few in English and a few in Spanish, Pastor Tito preached an excellent message (albeit in Spanish!) about Jesus healing blind Bartemaeus, and how Jesus always asked people what He could do for them! Likewise, we, as the Body of Christ, should always seek to serve others and ask “What can I do for you?”
After church, the team was allowed to buy their own lunch, and they all decided to again eat Chifa. Afterwards, we did some snack-shopping and then the team was given the afternoon off. Many of them engaged in the culture by playing pick-up fütbol (soccer) with the local kids!

Please continue to life us up, for the team’s health, that the team would continue to focus on the ministry that the Lord has for us, and that we would continue to draw nearer to God!

For His Glory Alone,

Your C.C’s

Happy Independence Day from Huánuco, Peru! We hope that you had as good a day as we did! This morning, the team took a bus to a different district of Huánuco to once again share the Gospel! The team was able to perform the drama in four different parks today, and many gave their lives to the Lord!

2 Corinthians 12:9 says “My grace is sufficient for you and my power is made perfect in your weakness”. This verse was very applicable to the team this morning as many were feeling weak this morning as we left our hotel to do Jesus ministry. Some were struggling with homesickness, and some were just feeling tired. We know that much of this was due to spiritual warfare as we are seeking to penetrate the darkness with light. We praise the Lord that even though the team was not at their best, many still came to the saving knowledge of Christ. When we returned to the hotel for lunch we were able to spend some extra time in the Word, in prayer, and in worship. This time was so beneficial and helped to refocus everyone on the Lord and remove the focus from themselves. When we left in the afternoon the shift in energy was unmistakable. Truly Christ is always sufficient for each and every need we have.

In the evening after dinner, the team participated in a tradition of Awe Star summer trips: the Talent Show! Each student participated, and they all had very good contributions (card tricks, sword fights, raps, etc.)! It was a good time of laughs and bonding after a hard day of Jesus’ Ministry!

Tomorrow we will be going to the church of the missionary that we have been helping! Afterwards, the team will have the afternoon off to rest and get ready for another week of Jesus’ Ministry!

Please continue to be in prayer for the team, that God would provide many more Divine Encounters, that He would continue to keep the team healthy, that He would renew our joy in serving Him every morning, and that He would use this team to proclaim His name in a great and powerful way here in this city!

Gloria a Dios!

Hello friends & family!

We have so much to tell you about this evening! This morning the team returned to the bus stop that they were able to perform at a few days ago, and again present the drama to a small crowd of people. After the team performed, and as they went out to share with people the Good News, a reporter from Radio Inspiraccion (a local radio station) came up to Pastor Tito, Karissa and I (Jacey) to ask us questions about what we were doing and why we were in Huánuco. She took out her notepad, asked a few questions, and scribbled a few things down. She then produced a tape recorder to interview the three of us! We were able to get the entire message of the Gospel recorded, and she gave us the day, time, and frequency that the recorded interview would be on! (Monday, between 6-8am, 99.3 FM!) Praise God that many in this city will be able to hear the Gospel over the airwaves!

After that, the Lord kept on giving! We went to the school where the man we had met on the first day worked. As it turned out, this school is one of the largest in Amarilis District. As it also turned out, today was Teacher’s day in Peru, so, many parents were also at the school in addition to students and faculty! The school was having a celebration, and many of the students were in different dances and acts honoring teachers. We had to wait over an hour for our turn to perform on the “conche” (basketball court) in front of a crowd of at least 600 people! The team was not able to go out and speak to people individually because so many were there and the school was having a celebration, but the Gospel and the way to Christ were clearly presented! Not only that, but Karissa and I were again interviewed, this time on camera, by a lady who reported on happenings in the schools, colleges, and universities of Huánuco! Praise the Lord and all glory to Him that so many will be reached with the Gospel through the obedience of this team!

For lunch, the team enjoyed Chifa (Peruvian Chinese. VERY good), Inca Cola (traditional Peruvian soda), and chocolate cake, in honor of Marco Flores (a long-time translator for Awe Star in Peru) because today was his birthday!

After lunch, the team rested for an hour and then took a bus to a large park and then to downtown Huánuco (in a different district). The team performed a total of two times after lunch, and many came to a saving knowledge of Christ! His name was lifted high in this city today!

Hello all!

What an incredible testimony we heard about the Lord moving in power today! A few days ago, the team had presented the drama in front of the municipal administration building in Amarilis district in Huánuco. Today, after breakfast, the team returned to the same place and performed the drama again. After performing, the team went out and shared the Good News of the Gospel once again! Several prayed to receive Christ! Some of our students saw a man that had seen the drama when we had performed it the first time. They went up to talk to him again, and he excitedly explained to our students that he had been able to sleep for the first time in years! He said before he received Christ he was unable to sleep because he was worried and was not at peace. He said that after he received Christ in his life, he has been able to sleep at night because he has found the peace which passes all understanding! Our God truly gives rest to the restless.

At the second site, the team returned to the open-air market to share the Gospel with the vendors and customers. The team was greatly encouraged after they heard that one of the team members encountered a Peruvian man who seemed to have a calling from God to preach! The man was already a Christian, and he had significant knowledge and understanding of the scriptures! He proclaimed the truths of there being one Gospel, one God, one Holy Spirit, and one Christ! He went on to say that all are united because of the blood of Christ and that all are the same in Him, and finally that the Spirit works in and through believers all for the glory of God! Please pray that this man would continue to be used by God to work in powerful ways in the city of Huánuco and that he would be given the faith and strength to continue proclaiming the name of God to the people in this city!

As always, we are so grateful for your prayers. Please pray for continued good health, that the Holy Spirit would draw people unto himself, for a depth in conversation that comes from the Word, and for our students to continue to walk in love as men and women of God.

For His Kingdom,

Karissa & Jacey

Buenas Noches friends and family!

We have had yet another sweet and full day of ministry here in Huánuco. The Lord is moving in so many ways and we are continually left speechless by his work. This morning we were invited to return to the same school that we went to yesterday morning, and perform the drama again for a different group of students. The children were mostly between the ages of 5 and 7 years old. When we arrived, the children were full of joy and excitement at our coming. The principal of the school even set up a video camera to capture the entire drama. With an audience as young as this one, it can be hard to know how many will be able to have a true understanding of the Gospel, but we know the Lord is not bound by the age of the listener!

As the students performed the drama, and the crucifixion scene began, tears began to stream down the face of one little girl as they beat and nailed Jesus to the cross. After the drama was over, the students began to approach the crowd that they might further explain the gospel. The little girl was bouncing up and down in anticipation to hear more, and practically ran up to our students so that she could hear more about Jesus. She, along with several others gave their lives to the Lord today. The joy and excitement these children had in finding Christ was so beautiful, and should be present in our own hearts as well. The school prepared tamales and juice for our entire team as an expression of thanks for our coming and sharing with their students. We are thankful to have built a good relationship with this school and pray that the gospel will continue to be spread throughout it!

Typically, we have a few hours in the afternoon after we eat lunch before we have any more drama ministry scheduled. This afternoon the students spent time in their MOM and POP groups, continuing their study on ManUp (walking out the Biblical picture of manhood) and ReignOn (walking out the Biblical picture of womanhood). We met back all together and worshiped through song before heading back out into the city.

During the remainder of the afternoon the team was able to perform the drama two more times. First in a park, and then at one of the busiest bus stops in Huánuco! One group of students approached a women and her daughter hoping to share the truth with them. When the students asked if them they understood the drama, the woman said “yes! I have already have relationship with Jesus Christ! But my daughter does not, please explain it to her!” The students proceeded to explain the gospel to the woman’s daughter. The daughter who was once dead is now alive in Christ, praise to the Lord!

In the evening we returned to the hotel, ate dinner, and delved into a discussion over 1 Corinthians 13. We asked the students to spend time studying and meditating on this passage in preparation for our discussion. We know that if we do not walk in love, than all else that we do does not matter. For without love, we are nothing (1 Cor. 13:2). We pray that the Lord would help us as we seek to walk in love as a team for the remainder of this summer.

Please pray for continued good health, courage in sharing the Gospel in spite of our own shortcomings, humility, and unity that is driven by the Gospel alone.

That all may know Him,

Karissa & Jacey

What a beautiful morning it was in the city of Huanuco today! The students got up in the early hours of the morning and headed out before breakfast to do the drama in a school close to the hotel we are staying in. We walked to the school and then climbed several levels to the top floor, where we performed the drama. Afterwards, the team was able to witness to the kids and the teachers at the school! We will be returning to the same school several times this week to show our drama to each of the different classes! Please pray that the Lord would plant many seeds and that we would see many salvations in that place as we present the Gospel!

After presenting at the school and eating a hearty breakfast of tomales and rolls, the team headed to another school in a different part of Huanuco to again share the Good News! At this school, the team presented the Gospel and witnessed to well over 300 students, administrators, and teachers! Praise God that His Name and salvation was able to be proclaimed openly to so many!

The team headed back for lunch, and then spent some time studying and meditating on Scripture. We then spent some time together in worship as we prepared to head back out into the city and continue doing Jesus ministry. The team then headed to a local park to present the drama. At the beginning of the drama there was a boy’s soccer team that was preparing for their practice who sat down to watch. At first, the boy’s coach did not want them to stay and watch but rather come and begin practice. The boy’s told the coach no, that they did not want to practice but they wanted to see what we were doing. The coach eventually gave in and allowed the team to stay and watch the entire drama! Many seeds were planted and some gave their hearts to Christ.

In the evening, the students ate dinner and then listened as Jacey taught on what the Word of God really is and how we should properly use it. He reminded us not to take the gravity of the word lightly, but to recognize the gift that it is.

The team is doing an incredible job and we are so encouraged by their enthusiastic and encouraging spirits. Please pray for continued good health and attitudes, for pride to be crushed and humility increased, and for Christ to be honored above all else. We so appreciate your faithful prayers!

That all may know Him,

Karissa & Jacey
