Happy New Year from Nuevo Laredo!

We had a restful morning and all went out to the movies with our national friends to watch the movie Ferdinand the Friendly Bull. The movie’s theme fit the culture of Nuevo Laredo. The movie centered around a bull, the matador and the bull fighting arena. It brought to remembrance our time at the Plaza de los Toros where we performed the drama at the old bull fighting arena.

After lunch, we headed out to do one last drama. We performed the drama at a pizzeria and there the Holy Spirit was moving. The manager was reluctant at first to allow the students to perform, but by the time the drama ended she was in tears and so grateful that we stopped by. God used the cancelation in our plan to move us to where He wanted us to go for His plan. It was a great ending to our time here in Nuevo Laredo.

This week has been so wonderful. Many have come to receive Christ as their Lord and Savior. We could not be more proud of each of the students. They have walked out this week together in unity and uplifting one another as a family. Though our time together has been brief, it feels like we have all known each other for a long time. It has been a great pleasure serving with each of them.

We will be heading back to the United States at 3 am. Text updates will be given out accordingly to inform of our estimated time of arrival. Thank you for all your prayers and support throughout this week. Please be praying for a safe day of travel tomorrow as we head back.

Buenas Noches!

After breakfast this morning we headed off to one of the largest markets here in Nuevo Laredo. Winding through the narrow walkways crowded with customers and venders, we made our way to an opening in the middle of the market to perform the drama. As the shoppers walked past us they would stop and watch with intrigue as we set up. Children gathered in the front while the adults gathered all around the sides ready to see what these students would do. After the invitation was given, several surrendered their lives to Jesus Christ! Across the opening there was a lady selling clothes. She could not leave her stand to come watch the drama however, she was able to hear the whole narration and invitation. From simply hearing the truth she wanted to accept Christ as her personal Lord and Savior. Gloria a Dios!

After leaving the market we headed to two different churches to present the drama. It was encouraging to pray together and to get to share with fellow Christians in Nuevo Laredo some of the work that is happening here. We performed two more dramas this afternoon at the mall each with more people who heard the truth.

In celebration of the New Year, we had a delicious dinner of a beef stew. Following dinner we played games and continued the festivities with cake and ice cream. We had a wonderful night of fun all together as a family.

Tomorrow will be our final day of ministry here in Nuevo Laredo. We are equally excited for the day and sad that it means the end of our time here. Happy New Year here from Nuevo Laredo!

Buenas Noches!

Today was a full day as we started off by going to perform the drama in a maximum-security prison. Our contact here is a police officer who helped arrange our visit. We were not able to get any pictures there since no pictures were allowed within the compound. Three dramas were performed; one drama was done for the women and two for the men. Before each drama,, we sang together in worship and as we sang praises to God people gathered around listening earnestly. As the group of students went out to talk to the crowds, many had tears in their eyes as they spoke of the forgiveness that has been made available to them. This morning was very moving for everyone.

Following our visit, we went to the market. This afternoon was our free day where the students were able to spend some time shopping in the local market. All the students came back with smiles as they carried back their new Mexican trinkets. We arrived back at the church for dinner and then Walker spoke on spiritual gifts before finishing off the night.

Tomorrow we have another exciting day of ministry planned. The students have all been working so hard and performing with the utmost enthusiasm every time. Their passion for Jesus and the spreading of the gospel is clearly evident. We could not be more proud of each of them.

Thank you for your continued prayers during our time here in Nuevo Laredo. Please continue to pray for each of the students and the people we will encounter tomorrow.

Good evening!

This morning the weather dropped here in Nuevo Laredo and caused a shift in plans. But as we prayed and sought the Lord in where He wanted us to go, doors opened for us to perform the drama at the Immigration House. There, many were there waiting for hope. The room was filled with men, women and children of all ages. As the drama was presented, the eyes of everyone in the room were fixed on the students, captivated by the story performed and the wonder of the students who came to be here with them. After the invitation was given, many all over the room raised their hands proclaiming that they wanted to receive Christ. Gloria a Dios!

As the day continued, the sun came out, which was a great blessing and allowed us to perform two dramas in the Plaza de Toros followed by a special drama performance in the arena of the old bullfighting ring. Though the audience there was small, it was none the less important. The security guard and others who worked in maintaining the arena were able to watch the drama. Even if only one person received Christ as their personal Lord and Savior this week, this whole trip would still be well worth it. Every person matters to Jesus.

Thank you for your continued prayers for the students and for the ministry here in Nuevo Laredo.

Buenas Noches!

This morning we had an early start as we began ministry here in Nuevo Laredo. After a delicious taco breakfast we loaded the vans and headed off to the local market. There we were able to preform the drama three times in various locations. Each time there was a fruitful response of those who prayed to receive Christ as their personal Lord and Savior! Though the weather is kind of chilly here, it’s all worth it for people to hear about the greatest gift that could ever be offered to them. (The additional layers also help.)

For lunch, we headed back to the church for a little break and the “Awe Star Special” for lunch. Once everyone had finished eating, we had a time of fellowship and further teachings given by Walker on affirming, encouraging and growing as a team.

We headed back out to perform two more dramas at one of the main plazas. It has been a great day as many have come to receive Christ into their lives. Many are ready and seeking Jesus. At one of the sites, there was a lady whose mom is a devoted Christian. She explained how her mom had been telling her about Jesus and praying for her, but she had never come to make the decision herself. Today, her mom is very happy along with all of heaven, for she prayed to receive Christ into her life. With tears in her eyes, she thanked the students who prayed with her. The Lord was already working in this woman’s life and brought her to the market today to hear the gospel presentation. This is just one of the many examples we have seen today of how much God deeply cares. Our time here in Nuevo Laredo has had a great start.

Thank you to the Sewing Ministry at Parkview Baptist church for the many hats, stuffed animals and dresses. Today so many were handed out and the smiles on the children’s faces were priceless. Thank you for always keeping us in your prayers. God is doing great things here in Nuevo Laredo.

Good evening!

Our first night here in Nuevo Laredo was cozy and restful as we stayed in the newly renovated portion of the Agape church. After sleeping in a bit, we had a delicious egg and sausage taco breakfast. This morning’s devotional was taken from Philippians 1:1-2 and taught on loving one another as Christians as servants of the Lord. “If every Christian belongs to Jesus, then to mistreat another believer is to mistreat the Lord Himself.” This ties into the theme for this year that “We are family”.

Once breakfast was finished, drama training began. Immediately everyone was given a role and were quickly and diligently learning their parts. Soon, the complete drama came together and we were so proud of the students’ good attitudes and effort each put in. We were able to go out and perform two dramas this afternoon, and what a joy it was to already witness several come to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

After eating a delicious and warm dinner, we had a time of worship followed by Walker finishing up the night with a teaching on the Man Up and Reign On series and small group time before heading to bed. We are all so excited for the day of ministry that awaits us tomorrow.

Continue to pray as we go out tomorrow and as we continue growing together as a family this week.

Good evening from Mexico!

We made it across the border and settled in at the Agape church here in Nuevo Laredo. Upon arrival, there were many excited hellos and holas to the translators who will be working with us during this week.

For  tonight’s teaching, Walker spoke on the four “Awe Factors” which are 1. abiding in the Word 2. Talking about Jesus – fellowship 3. Worship & praise – “Jesus + nothing = everything” and 4. Prayer. “Our success will rise and fall on how well we beseech God in prayer.”

Before heading to bed, we gathered into groups and prayed over one another and all of what God has planned for this coming week. We are all in anticipation for what Jesus will do here in Nuevo Laredo.

Please be praying as we begin tomorrow morning with drama training and ministry. More nightly updates to come!
