What a great last morning/afternoon in country! The very first day we arrived in The Gambia, we did our first drama performance for a young lady named Fatou. Over the course of our time in-country, our team members developed a relationship with her and prayed for her often. The morning before we left, Fatou accepted Christ! I love when God shows up in the last hour and declares His faithfulness!

We have now arrived in Brussels, awaiting our flight to Washington then on to Dallas! Thank you to those who have prayed for traveling mercies! Please pray also for more divine encounters; this team can’t get enough of them! #awestar #jesushasdecided#usherHimback

Ending strong and ending well: That was our prayer as we entered into a time of worship today. Our morning challenge began with the William Carey quote, “Expect great things from God, Attempt great things for God.”

Our first ministry site was about 25 yards from an Islamic mosque. In the middle of intense ministry, the loudspeaker began blaring the call to prayer, filling the very air with this demand for people to come and pray. Some left conversations, others stayed, asking for prayer for themselves and their families.

Our second site was more intense. This was the site where the Awe Star team engaged in conversations with a local imam (religious scholar in the mosque). During their conversation, someone ran up to Pastor Martins, calling him “doctor/pastor.” Pastor prayed for this man and instantly, he was healed. It was a power encounter with the gospel. Immediately he testified to the imam what Jesus had done for him. I love when God demonstrates His power to validate His gospel! It was an incredible day! I know Jesus got lots of glory out of this team today and that just makes my heart smile.

Tomorrow, we travel home. Please pray His presence would go before us and opportunities to continue sharing His truth would surround us. #awestar #usherHimback #gambiahasdecided!

From schools to markets to side road junctions, the team has worked hard today to diligently make known the gospel to every person they have encountered. God has been so good to our team and has been faithful to prearrange divine encounters on a daily basis. Today many got opportunities to plant seeds of truth and even reap more souls for God’s kingdom. Tomorrow will be our last drama ministry day before leaving the country. Pray with us that we will end strong and continue to restore glory to Christ in a land that so longs for the hope only Jesus can bring. #awestar#jesushasdecided #usherHimback

Just when you thought it couldn’t get any more exciting and better, God does something to just blow your socks off one more time! Today we spent the morning worshipping with our African brothers and sisters in Christ. We performed the ASM drama once for the church and then prepared to go to the beach this evening to present the gospel again. Little did we know that when we prayed for God to give us the beach, He would have a stage prepared before we arrived!

We noticed as we walked onto the beach that literally thousands of people were attending a sponsored soccer tournament right in the place where we had planned since last Sunday to come to present the drama. We set up once and presented the gospel to a crowd of a couple of hundred people that flocked all around us.

During that time, I went to the main person in charge of the sponsored soccer tournament and asked if we could use their stage and speakers to present a drama to the crowd. The guy looked puzzled at first–but I explained that he could draw a bigger crowd if he allowed our all-American drama team to perform on his stage. Little did we know that not only would we perform in front of a few thousand people, we would literally be presenting the gospel on national TV in an Islamic country! So what are the chances? You got it: 100 percent with God every time! #jesushasdecided #awestar #usherHimback#100percentwithGodeverytime

What a joy to spend some quality time together as a team. Inhale–Exhale! Today was a part of what Awe Star teaches on how to know when it’s time to inhale vs. exhaling as a team. For the last week, we have been hitting the streets hard sharing the gospel, gathering fruit and pushing back darkness. So today we rest. We engaged in a time of fun, rest and adventure. Thank you, Jesus, for moments of pulling away from the masses to recharge and ready ourselves to hit it hard again tomorrow! #jesushasdecided #awestar #usherHimhome

What a day! We began by marching the dirt roads and back corners of the community armed with prayer, asking God to reign down His presence in a land filled with darkness. As people filled the streets to pray to Allah, we flooded heaven with cries of “Thy Kingdom come in The Gambia, as it is in heaven!”

We regathered at the church and began to worship. Rain poured down from heaven–literal rain. The streets flooded as rain clouds filled the sky and showers began to fall. For several hours we sat at the church worshipping, praying and encouraging one another. When the rains finally ceased, we hit the local fish market with the gospel. His presence was evident and several gave their lives to Christ!

Thank you for joining us in prayer today. God heard, and heaven fell. #jesushasdecided #awestar#usherHimback

Multiple times, the team set up to perform their drama today and share the good news about Jesus. I was sitting on a an old pipe watching teams as they went out to minister when a small group of boys came to me and asked for another booklet. (We are handing out booklets filled with Scripture and a presentation of the gospel in the local language.) I didn’t have one but began to engage with him and his friends about why they wanted one. Mohammad, the eldest boy looked me in the eyes and said, ” This is a very special book because it tells of Jesus and we have never heard or seen anything about Him before!” As he spoke, I knew- God was here, and He was drawing these young seekers to himself. Mohomad began introducing his friends Elijah, Joseph, another Mohammad and so on. … instantly, I began sharing the gospel and explaining who and why Jesus came and how they could have a relationship with God through Him. It was beautiful! All six boys surrendered their hearts to Jesus as I sat on an old dirty pipe on a side road from the busiest market in their community. I know they did not come to the market looking for new life, but Jesus had decided that today, their greatest need wasn’t more eggs or spice, but a new life in Him! I love seeing Jesus work!

Who are you talking to today that may be looking for one thing–but God is setting it up for you to share Jesus with them? #jesushasdecided #awestar#usherHimback

Imagine walking on a dirt road with cars, bikes, scooters, semi trucks, donkey carts, herds of goats or cows and people of all ages–all at the same time! That is the best picture of how we spend our days walking from ministry site to ministry site. The smells, chaos and atmosphere can overtake you–if you don’t know your purpose. But each day, students are coming together, locking arms and declaring, ” Jesus has decided–for Gambia to know Him!”

Today, more salvations flooded in as we performed the “Freedom” drama and each student boldly shared their redemptive story. Thank you for praying with us for a reaping of the harvest! God is moving in The Gambia! #jesushasdecided #awestar #usherHimback

There is nothing like seeing someone come from darkness to light! Today our team celebrated the Fourth of July by offering spiritual freedom to hundreds as we moved through the busy markets and weaved through dirt roads. We prayed for the forgotten, the lonely, the seeker and the broken to come and hear the good news of the gospel. God heard, and many lives were touched as our students went from site to site sharing the gospel.

Each day, we see resistance from shop owners and even youth who will take our Scripture booklets and tear them up, declaring they are Muslim. But with every person who resists and tries to discourage our message, God is bringing more who are seekers and are asking us to pray for them to receive Christ. One lady was fearful of receiving Christ because her family were strong Muslims. She said she would be put on the streets and rejected by all. Our team members encouraged her to be brave and trust the One calling her to Himself. He was and is faithful. Scared and excited at the same time, she bowed her head and said, “Yes! I want to be a Christian and follow Jesus! Pray for me to be unafraid of my family.”

Please join us in praying for those who are risking their comforts and cultural identity to embrace the gospel. Pray for boldness for our students and fearlessness for those whom Jesus is calling to Himself. #jesushasdecided #awestar #usherHimback
