Calvary/Parkview-Peru 2014

Yesterday was an amazing day. In the morning we went back to the school from the day before, but we were able to talk to the elementary age students. We enjoyed singing and sharing stories with them. At the end we presented the Gospel to them and many kids raised their hands cause they desired a relationship with Christ. At the end the teachers took the students to their classrooms to talk to them even more about this.

In the afternoon we went back for our last day in El Mirador. This time when we went we took jackets, hats and gloves, and a few shoes for the people. During the women’s ministry they had all the people stand who have accepted Christ over the last few days 20+ stood. What a great thing to see!

Over the last few days the team has noticed two boys, one didn’t have shoes, the other boy had broken flip flops held together by wire. We took the boys aside and were able to fit them both with a pair of shoes. The biggest smile came across their face. They couldn’t stop smiling and ran home so they could put the shoes on.

Please pray that a church can be established in this city for these believers.

Peru Team

Today was a great day. This morning after a great breakfast, we went to a local school. We split into two groups and some went and talked to older kids while the others worked with younger kids. We greatly enjoyed singing and sharing Bible stories with them.

After lunch we went back to El Mirador. As our bus approached kids started to run towards us in excitement. We started, and more and more people began to arrive. The adults in the women’s ministry were so thirsty to hear God’s Word. You could tell the Holy Spirit was opening the eyes of the people as we shared Bible stories and testimonies. During the service God drew several closer to Him. Steven was talking to a few who said they wanted to receive Christ. While he was talking to them a lady said, “Now we know God is real!” Praise God, they see His truth!

After the service, Tito began to talk to a man who came with his wife. The deeper the conversation went, the more joy that came on the lady’s face. The man prayed to accept Christ, and his wife was overjoyed! This lady was one who accepted Christ yesterday, and she was so happy her husband could now experience the same! We are rejoicing in the fact a whole household has now been changed!

Please continue to join us in crying out to God to change this city! Pray that a church can quickly be planted and these new believers will grower closer to each other and Christ.

 

Peru Mission Team

This morning after the team had breakfast we loaded the bus and went to the city El Mirador. This 
city is very poor, very few have electricity and none have running water. The bus took us up a long 
steep road made of sand. As we looked at the houses our hearts began to break for the people
and the conditions in which they live. Many of the houses were made of tarps, straw mats, and pieces of
metal or other things found laying around. As we went out in groups we invited people to join us 
for the programs in the afternoon. Many of us were able to pray over several people. 

After lunch we returned to start our afternoon programs. We were all filled with joy as we started 
to see children run down the street to join us. The children were quickly followed by their moms. We 
had 22 women and 42 children. This is very good since there is no church in the area. Right after
the afternoon program we had a church service, since there are very few lights in the city. We had 3
ladies stay for the service, but little did they know they had been set up. You see God had them
there for a reason. All 3 of those came to know Christ as their Lord!!!! What a great night!

However we know that this is the Calma (calm) Before The Storm. We look forward to more great things
God is going to do. So continue to join us in prayer as we ask God to draw himself near to people. 
What a truly great day it was and we rejoice in those who became our sisters in Christ.

In the morning we will head to a school, then back to El Mirador. We are excited to see what God is
going to do tomorrow.

Peru Team

Good evening! We hope you all are doing well. The team has all safely arrived and looking forward to diving into ministry in the morning!

The past few days have been full of lots of travel but we have used this time to grow closer together. We are all excited about how the Lord has brought us together.

We arrived early this morning in Lima. After sleeping a few hours, we got on a bus to head to Trujillo. Those on the team who have been to Peru before enjoyed watching as the newcomers had a little bit of culture shock as they looked out the windows and saw the traffic, the houses, and God’s beautiful creation.

After arriving in Trujillo, the team had the privilege of attending a church service in which we celebrated their anniversary. We enjoyed getting to see some faces of people we have worked with in the past.

We are now settling in for the evening and getting some rest so we can start first thing in the morning. We appreciate you being a vital part of our team through your prayers. We look forward to what God is going to do and we ask that you join us in asking God to do a mighty work, also for continued unity, health, and enthusiasm!

Today, Calvary and Parkview Baptist Churches are getting the final checklists done and plan to leave for Dallas this afternoon. They would greatly appreciate your prayers as they fly out very early tomorrow morning. They will spend about 10 days in Peru working with Awe Star veteran, Tito Sevilla. We are praying that God would use them in mighty ways.

“For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love,  may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ,  and to know this love that surpasses knowledge that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.

 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us,  to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen” (Ephesians 3:14-21).
