Lucile – The Legacy
In 1993, Lucile helped Walker’s vision become reality by partnering with him to found Awe Star Ministries. This retired school teacher served as grandmother, grace depositor and resident encourager to the Moore boys and to all Awe Star missionaries. In September 2007, Lucile went home to be with the Lord and Savior she served for so many years. Her legacy of giving, serving and praying so that others might go, her life lives on throughout her Awe Star family.
Walker – President / Founder of Awe Star Ministries
For over thirty-five years, Walker has challenged students to follow the will and the Word of God as they embrace the lifestyle of a missionary. He and his wife Cathy, have two married sons, Jeremiah and Caleb, and two grandsons, Titus & Cohen. Walker’s popular “Rite of Passage Parenting” column has appeared weekly in the Oklahoma Baptist Messenger for the past 20 years. He is also the author of Rite of Passage Parenting: Four Essential Experiences to Equip Your Kids for Life (book and workbook, Nelson Books, 2007) and Escape the Lie: Journey to Freedom from the Orphan Heart (Randall House, 2014). The deep desire of his heart is to raise up the last missionary who will usher in the return of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Cathy is the glue that holds our office together. She manages all donations, and everything else that flows through Awe Star. She takes care of all the staff, making sure they have all of the materials they need. She asks the tough questions that keep each of us on top of our game. She is the wife to Walker and mother to Jeremiah and Caleb and has two grandsons, Titus and Cohen.
Carol – Administrative Assistant
Carol manages Walker’s busy calendar, answers the phones, works with group trips, makes travel arrangements, and willingly helps with whatever it takes to help missionaries reach the field. She has a passion for missions and for seeing people everywhere come to know the Lord. She has also had the privilege of serving alongside her family in mission efforts. Carol and her husband, Skip, have two children, David and Gerri, their spouses, Jenny and Josh, and two granddaughters, Brayden and Kaylee.
McKynzie – Student Intern
I am a junior at Kiefer High School. I originally got involved with missions through the L.I.T. ministry at my church and fell in love with sharing the gospel. This past summer I went with Awe Star to the county of Panama and got to see God work in amazing ways. I now have been given this awesome opportunity to be part of Awe Star. I’m super excited to start this internship and to see what God has in store.
Marti – Director of Prayer and Publication
Marti (who serves Awe Star from her home in Florida) is wife to Tom, a worship pastor; and mother of Kristen, Katherine, Andrew, Karissa and Melanie. God has called her to assist us in developing and coordinating the prayer aspect of our ministry. She covers our staff and students in prayer while working to involve others in intercession as we carry out the ministry of Jesus Christ. Marti also writes, edits and oversees publication for many of our printed and online materials.
Tito Sevilla – Auxiliary Staff Member
Based in Trujillo, Peru, Tito has been serving as a Pastor/Mission’s Pastor for much of his adult life. He is married to Edith and they had four children. After the death of one of his sons, his life and ministry grew significantly in its impact on the people and culture. He sets up trips for mission and church groups alike. Through these efforts he has planted churches all across the northern parts of his country. When God places a burden for a city on Tito’s heart, it soon births the next church plant. His faithfulness has inspired many Awe Star alumni through the years.
Anabel Badillo – Auxiliary Staff Member
Each day finds Anabel living the lifestyle of a missionary. She is routinely meeting all kinds of needs for people, in the city of Nuevo Laredo, Mexico and surrounding areas. She is selfless and has a heart to see the lost come to know Christ. She has been hosting and working alongside mission teams from the USA for many years. She has planted churches all around her city as well as in mountain regions further south.
Alesha Nutter – Auxiliary Staff Member
A native of Wisconsin, Alesha moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma in 2008. She connected with Awe Star Ministries through friends, and subsequently served in Argentina, Brazil, Latvia, Mexico, Paraguay, and Peru as a short term missionary. She rose through the ranks as a student to Leadership. Through serving with Awe Star in Latvia, God called her to move there. She began to walk in faithfulness to that call and moved over in August of 2012. She partners with nationals in sharing the Gospel, and loving on people.
